We made some significant progress in our mudroom this weekend. Finished the painting. Put up the new light fixture. Put back the coat hooks. Changed out the light switches. Whew.
I am head over heels for the new lantern. It replaced a basic white glass flush mount bug collector type:).
We were able to hang it so from outside it seems perfectly centered in the top half of the window.
This is a close up of the top piece of the lantern. The glass here and in the bottom have the little air bubbles also called seeded glass and the glass is also wavy. At night when the bulbs are on it throws a cool pattern on the walls and ceiling.
We bought it on overstock.com for a very reasonable price - especially compared to places like Pottery Barn. I think it makes a huge impact for a small investment.
You can see from the pictures that the trim and wall paint is finally done. I just have to clean up the window and fix a few oops spots. The coat hooks are the originals. They are an antique brass, heavy duty, and still in good shape so I saw no reason to spend money to replace them.
Now we are on moving on to the floor!!!!
You can see how beat up it is in the corner of this picture. That is ground-in, 20-year-old yucky mucky shoe and pet dirt. I can't wait to get the new floor in place. It's a click-lock type that we are going to diy. Hopefully it will be quick and easy like the website says.
Wish us luck!!!
