A Beginning, A Middle and an End

Lately my sister has been keeping me busy with all her baby shower gifts.  I'm trying to quickly get her requests done before I have to pack up everything for our move.

So I have 3 baby quilts to show you today.

The first is at the beginning.  Fabrics picked.

This is going to be a baby sized quilt for a little girl.  I'll be making it out of Ashbury Heights by Doohickey Designs for Riley Blake fabrics.  Because we are short on time I am just doing a simple patchwork for the top.

Next up is the project I'm in the middle of completing.

This quilt is for a baby boy and we're doing it out of Sasparilla by October Afternoon for Riley Blake fabrics.  This little boy lives in Texas so we thought the cowboy theme was appropriate.  So far I've cut out and pieced the rows and I'm in the middle of sewing the rows together.  I fussy cut the main cowboy fabric to be a feature amongst the rest of the prints.

My end or finish is an adorable little girl quilt.  Again also for my sister's shower needs.

This one is crib sized and I made it from Sidewalks by October Afternoon for Riley Blake fabrics.  Apparently I have a thing for Riley Blake fabrics.

Anyways, this is actually the second time I made this pattern which is my own design.  It's just strips but I cut out the baby's name from the alphabet print and then appliqued it onto one of the strips.

I added some petite pink ric rac to that strip too.  It is a really cute way to personalize this quilt.

For the first time ever I did a little free motion quilting.  I did a simple loop pattern.  It turned out pretty well.  I like the way the quilt really crinkled up after washing.  It feels so nice and soft.

I did a scrappy binding which looked really neat against the solid piece of aqua floral print on the back.

Wish me luck on finishing all these before I have to pack away the sewing machine!!!
