I know it's been a while since my last post but I have been super busy working on a few custom orders from my etsy shop.
This was a quick baby/toddler quilt that I just whipped up in between orders. At first I wasn't sure about the fabrics - I was worried they were a little too bright but once they were all cut up and placed inside the white borders I really liked them.
My favorite is the sweet little butterflies. Although the tiny birdhouses are a close second.
The fabrics are Clementine by Dear Stella. I bought the fat quarter collection from fatquartershop.com so I still have the orange colorway left. I think I may do that up in a similar fashion. Anyways, I did the back in a solid cut of the butterfly print.
As usual I machine stitched on the binding which was made from the butterfly print. I like how the butterflies sort of peek around to the top of the quilt. The quilting was simple criss-cross on the center and I did a little zigzag on the print border. Then I stitched in the ditch around each of the borders just to create some more puckers when it was washed.
After I finish my current custom order I may go back and use my scraps to create a reverse applique or raw edge applique pillow inspired by those butterflies.
If you're interested I just listed this quilt in my etsy shop.
