Pillows Pillows Everywhere
I don't know what got into me but I've been making a passel of pillows lately. I think it may be that I am so over my living room furniture and I thought some new pillows might make them more tolerable until I feel like spending some cash on new couches and chairs.
Last week I made a dresden plate pillow for my neighbor and I also finished one for us too. It's sitting behind the smaller appliqued gobble gobble one which I finished up over the weekend.
This is the first time I've done welting or piping on a pillow. I love the effect but it was a little time consuming. Not hard but it added a good 30 minutes to the completion time. If you want to see how to do the applique part check out my how to applique post.
I made a sweater pillow a few weeks ago from an ivory cable knit I found at the goodwill for $4. Let me tell you though it was not easy to find a sweater that was both large enough and a neutral color that would be good in a living room. There were a lot of very bright neon colors and overly decorated sweaters that would just look strange in a living room or at least my living room. Anyways, I am going to try back another time soon because my sister wants one too. Maybe I'll try to get a cardigan and do some buttons down the middle. This one turned out okay. It's nothing splashy, but it looks nice and is a good neutral addition.
And here's a pillow that is a work in progress. I am using same set of fabrics so that all the pillows while different will coordinate. Also because I'm cheap. I still have tons left from this fat quarter bundle and I don't feel like spending any additional money on new fall fabrics right now.
I think after this one I am moving on to another quilt and some Christmas pillows. What are you up to right now?
