She Sees Seashells on a Blue Shelf

Okay.  So I was trying to go all "she sells seashells by the seashore" for the post title.  It's clever, right.  Okay, it's a little nerdy.  I just couldn't help it.

Anyways, one of my most popular posts to date has been about my seashell printer drawer display so I thought you might like to see another way to display some beachy things.

I had a little spot in our upstairs hallway between the hall bath and my daughter's room that was the perfect size for the knickknack shelf I had previously redone here.

So I put the shelf there and then as I was unpacking moving boxes the seashells and beachy things were one of the first things I found.  At first I thought it was too late in the year to display them but then I decided it was better than having empty shelves until I got to another box.  I think it turned out great.

One thing I tried to do was to not overdo the seashells.  A few go a long way.  I like interspersing the shelves with the baskets and the boats.

Here's some detail pictures...

On a side note I am loving my new camera.  I am still using the auto button for most of my shots but I have noticed that editing my pictures is a million times better.  They don't look as grainy when I crop them or add light or saturation in picasa.  I don't know if that's because of the higher megapixels on this camera or the better lens - either way I am happy.

I bought these little baskets at the flea market years ago for $.25 each.  I have used them in many different places in my house.  Well worth the investment.

What do you think about beachy themes during fall and winter?  Out of place?  Only good in bathrooms or seaside homes?
