Big News

I feel so bad for not posting in the last few days but we had some big news around here so I've been a little busy.

So my news is that my husband accepted a new job!!!

We are really excited and spent last weekend sharing the details with our families.  Our kids are excited and they are asking us all kinds of questions.  My 4-year-old is very concerned about our things coming with us.  He asked if his toys were coming, and his clothes, and the living room rug (because it is very soft), and just today he wanted to make sure all the food in the cupboards was coming.  Overall I think they are okay with moving and luckily we can finish the school year here and then get there before the new year starts.

As you know we currently live in the upstate western NY area.  His new job is in the Chicago area so we have a big move coming up.  Luckily, he got a great relocation package so I am getting some help with the moving, but basically we have 90-100 days to sell our current home, buy a new house, pack and move.

We've been spending the last few days talking to the relocation company, making to-do-lists, and searching the internet for houses.  It is very exciting but also very daunting.

The good news for you all is that very quickly I will have a lot of projects to share with you.  Over the weekend we started cleaning out and sprucing up the garage so I'll share that with you soon.  Also I am going to be forced to keep my house clean all the time so I'll finally get pictures of all our rooms to share with you.  Plus once we move I will have a whole new house to redo and post about.  My husband works in the mortgage industry so I plan on doing some posts about getting a new mortgage, selling our house, and buying a house in a down market.

If anyone has any great moving or organization tips please share.  I need all the help I can get.

  1. Congratulations... that's wonderful news! When our house was on the market and I had a messy toddler, I used to keep a basket in every room so I could throw stuff into it for a fast tidy. I hope your sale and move goes smoothly.
