Here is the before picture. You can see how it is really worn and how it just blends into the floor.
Here it is in my workshop I mean craft room I mean kitchen after I have sanded and stained the top and painted the legs.
I used the blogland favorite Minwax dark walnut stain for the top and then gave it a few coats of polycrylic. The legs are done in a custom mix antique white that I had from Sherwin Williams. I had considered distressing the legs but decided against it for now.
The stain did not come out as even as I would have liked but after the polycrylic shined it up a little I decided I liked the different variations in the color. Besides once you put stuff on the top no one really notices anyways.
Here it is back in its old spot in the living room. So much better. Now you can actually tell that there is a table next to all that dark woodwork.
At first I was upset that the pictures were not as sharp as I like but now you can't tell how badly I need to wash the windows:)
I wasn't going to post this picture because the blanket so clashes with the pillow but it was one of the best shots I had of the table in the window nook so oh well. Imagine that blanket is actually a pottery barn cable-knit version in a light blue that coordinates beautifully with the pillow and the wall color.
